2 Corinthians 2:14 NKJV – Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place.
With a grateful heart, I say thank You, Lord! Thanks to the God of heaven for choosing me to be a part of His Kingdom and His family. I say thanks for the purpose and privilege He has given to my life. And not only my life but also the lives of all who believe in Him, His chosen.
The Scripture above gives us a couple of TRUTHS to really meditate on: (1) We are always and continually led in triumph in Christ, and (2) We are now used to spread Christ, the Gospel, everywhere we are led. We become a sweet fragrance in the spaces where we share Christ, our hope.
Led In Triumph
We understand that Jesus was our forerunner (the One who came before us, who preceded us). He showed us how to live the life God was calling us to. Yes, He was the ultimate sacrifice for all of mankind and the world, but He also modeled a way of living that showed total surrender to God’s plan. And not only did He show us, but He also made “the way” doable meaning whatever obstacles He knew we were to face, whatever fears He knew we would have to confront, and whatever trials He knew we would need to go through, He made our paths victorious even before we were born. See, we are led along the path He walked when He lived on earth and in obedience to the purpose for His life. Yes, our life looks different, in the natural, than His, but our life is still one of Kingdom purpose and impact; and when we live in obedience and in purpose, we are walking that same path in our own lives. When we meditate on this TRUTH, we should be filled with gratitude that no matter what this life may bring and no matter what trial we may face, we are already victorious in Him.
A Sweet Fragrance
He calls us ambassadors of Christ (2 Corinthians 5:20) as we are responsible now for continuing in the ministry of reconciliation to God that Jesus began. This is the life we have been called to, and when we live this out as He intended, our lives and our ministry is like a sweet smell before God. Where we share the Gospel – the lives we impact, the environments where we represent Christ – we leave the sweet and pleasant aroma of hope, love, and victory. This pleases God! We should be grateful that He has called us to this way of living because without His calling, we would not know, or be able, to choose this life of triumph.
2 Corinthians 2:14 NLT – But thank God! He has made us His captives and continues to lead us along in Christ’s triumphal procession. Now He uses us to spread the knowledge of Christ everywhere, like a sweet perfume.
